NIQR – TVN KIDAO Award for the Best Outstanding Educational Institution-2023

Sona College of Technology receives the prestigious NIQR – TVN KIDAO Award for the Best Outstanding Educational Institution-2023! Sona College of Technology (SCT), a premium engineering college with a legacy spanning over sixty six years has been honoured with the NIQR-TVN KIDAO Award for the Best Outstanding Educational Institution-2023 by the National Institute for Quality and Reliability (NIQR), Chennai. The college’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, and Principal, Dr. S.R.R Senthil Kumar, received the award and the citation at a grand event held in Chennai on September 16, 2023.

This honour recognizes SCT's outstanding contribution to engineering research and teaching. Notably, SCT has prioritized innovation and supported a vibrant R&D and start-up environment as an autonomous institution under the Anna University. Luminaries like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam have visited and expressed appreciation for Sona's R&D efforts, in particular, SonaSPEED, one of the 36 Advanced Research and Development Centers at SCT. SonaSPEED has been instrumental in the development of Brushless Stepper motors for missions like Chandrayaan - 1, Chandrayaan - 2, and the most recent and successful Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing mission. SonaSPEED has also helped in testing the autonomous landing of the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) mission. SCT is committed to promoting space exploration, as seen by its essential contribution to the Gaganyan-1, the manned space mission of India.
