Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)

As per the guidelines of UGC, Equal Opportunity Cell is formed in our institution with the following members. The committee is constituted to cater to the statutory requirements of UGC and to ensure adherence to policies and guidelines periodically.

Aim

The purpose of the Equal Opportunity Cell is to ensure that students and faculty belonging to diverse communities, religions, regions, genders and abilities are not deprived of basic opportunities.

Objectives

To ensure the proper implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups, extend guidance and counselling on academic, financial, social and other concerns and strengthen diversity within the campus.

Functions

  • To ensure equity and equal opportunities for the entire college community and promote social inclusion.
  • To strengthen diversity among students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff while eliminating perceptions of discrimination.
  • To foster a socially inclusive and supportive environment that encourages academic interaction and healthy interpersonal relationships among students.
  • To take initiatives to sensitize the academic community to issues related to social exclusion and marginalized communities.
  • To assist students from disadvantaged sections in addressing issues related to discrimination.
  • To examine grievances of socially weaker sections and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • To disseminate information on welfare schemes and government notifications for disadvantaged groups.
  • To develop barrier-free procedures for admission and registration of disadvantaged students.
  • To coordinate with government bodies and organizations for academic and financial support.
  • To organize regular meetings to monitor progress of schemes and initiatives.
  • To ensure representation of SC/ST communities in admissions and recruitments.
  • To create awareness about issues faced by disadvantaged groups.
