Plastic is widespread, and it contributes to the Earth’s climate tipping point. To combat this, on June 21, 2022, our Sona NSS cell organised a trekking event in Yercaud with the theme “Plastic Eradication” and a call to action to “Say No to Plastic” and “Make India Single-Use-Plastic Free.” Around 80 volunteers participated in this event. Our volunteers were accompanied and guided by Dr.P. Iyyanar, AP/IT, and Mr.R.Anand, AP/ECE, NSS programme officers. Our volunteers collected non-biodegradable waste along the way and handed it over to the Forest department. This event gives awareness among the tourists about the hazards of single-use plastics.
