Our SONA NSS wing, which consists of 70 volunteers, took part in the “One Student One Tree-AICTE campaign” [AICTE-All India Council for Technology Education] event held in Omalur on August 25, 2019. Our NSS volunteers were split into five groups and planted 1000 trees in five separate locations in Omalur. Amman Nagar, Kamaraj Nagar, Kantham Nagar, Salem Lane, and S.M.Kovil are the locations. We planted 210 trees in Amman Nagar, 138 trees in Kamaraj Nagar, 205 trees in Kantham Nagar, 156 trees in Salem Road, and 291 trees in S.M.Kovil. We were able to plant the trees in the allotted time thanks to the help of the locals. Our NSS volunteers planted the trees with more enthusiasm and without getting tired, and the samplings were successfully planted, benefiting 2000 people in Omalur. Following the tree planting, the five groups met and pledged to provide a good atmosphere for future generations by refusing to allow anyone to cut down trees and instead planting more and more trees.
