GUEST LECTURE ON “BYE-LAWS AND DEVELOPMENT CONTROL REGULATIONS”
A guest lecture was organized in Civil Department, under the guidance of Dr, R, Malathy, HOD/ Civil by Prof. M. Arivoli , Prof.P.Ashok kumar and Prof. Karthika for the final year and PG students and on the topic “Bye-Laws And Development Control Regulations”by Er. DS. Panneer Selvam, Proprietor of Sri Vijay Constructions, Salem on 28.08.2017. Almost 145 students attended the lecture and were enriched with the knowledge of how to get approval for building plans from local bodies, the procedures followed in dimensioning a building as per National Building Code of Practice and some information regarding online approval process through website which asks for necessary information with guidelines. He also added that this online procedure has made it easy to get approval in less than a month wherein offline procedures takes almost a year. The session was an interaction between the guest and the students and was made interesting by students asking various questions related to the topic as it is one among their curriculum. This lecture was a great opportunity for students who will become an entrepreneur and start up their own firm, as these were the basic knowledge required for an engineer.
