Department of Civil Engineering in association with ICI and IEI Students Chapter, jointly organized lecture on “Preparation of Rough Cost Estimate of Building” on August 23rd, 2017. Inauguration was made in the august presence of Dr R Malathy, HoD/Civil, and Er.S.Lakshmanan, Charted and Retired Civil Engineer cum Manager of Ramco cements Ltd. Dr. R. Malathy briefly explained the importance of this guest lecturer and introduced the keynote speaker. Er.S.Lakshmanan briefed about the preparation of rough cost estimate for the various types of buildings and the cost arriving methods for the earthquake buildings. In this guest lecture, the current government PWD rates were discussed. He discussed many shortcuts to arrive the building cost using thumb rule. This guest lecture was organised for the benefit of Civil Engineering final year students which is a part of their curriculum.
